I thought it was time to update the masses (i.e the 4 people that read this) to what I have been wrapped up in recently. Although you wouldn’t be able to tell through my Instagram, I’m actually working and not traveling at the moment. Although fortunately my job is one in the same.
I am currently working in Thailand as a tour guide/group leader for Intro Travel. Intro is a travel company that hosts group tours all around the world but I am stationed in Thailand for now. I take groups of 10-22 people all around Thailand for 13 or 18 day trips. The groups range in nationality but it’s typically a mix of British, Irish, Australian, Canadian, American, and the rogue German or Dutch. Their ages are mixed as well but the general range is 18-32. I am their designated friend, doctor, therapist, mom, travel agent, and matchmaker. I help the group move through the itinerary and ensure everyone is safe and where they are supposed to be. I also ensure the group is gelling so everyone is included and having a sick time. It is a really full on job but the perks make it pretty worthwhile. I get to spend my Mondays snorkeling in crystal blue waters and spend my days off relaxing on an island or even in another country. I recently just spent 6 days off in Taiwan because why not!
I think this new gig really suites my experience and personality type. It’s definitely a people-person job and very social. I can finally put my overactive chatterbox to good use! The other side of the role that is equally important is the admin responsibilities. I have to do the expenses and reserve the ferries/hotels/restaurants/ taxis. It’s a unique balancing act of being responsible and fun at the same time…and somehow getting a good nights sleep in there.
I just recently finished my first tour and it went swimmingly! I had a great group of people and it felt like a giant group of friends rather than a tour. Only one hospital visit in there so overall I think it went pretty well lol. If anyone fancies booking on to one of my tours, I would be more than happy to show you around the land of elephant pants and 7/11 toasties.
My schedule is jam packed when on a tour but I am really going to try to continue writing blogs on my down time or days off. Please hold me to this! I pay for this dang website so I need to use it for my wallets sake.
Peace n love,
Tam
